The Lawrence Public Library Board met Tuesday and did approve 3% cost of living raises for employees. The vote was unanimous for the action. There were two exceptions with those workers being raised to meet the new Illinois minimum wage. The raises are retroactive to July 1st. Head Librarian Diane Brumley reported that the summer reading program has ended and there were 78 children who registered despite the pandemic. The board did approve the 2020-21 tax levy. They also discussed the Fiscal Year 2021 budget but will not take any action on the spending plan until August.
