Illinois State Police District 12 in Effingham has issued its monthly activity report for August. District 12 does include Lawrence County. There were 211 calls for service during the month with 1737 incident investigations in the field. State Troopers issued 753 citations-394 were for speeding, 67 for seat belts, 7 for child restraints. There were 138 distracted driving violations and 21 move over violations. There were 7 DUI arrests and 64 criminal arrests made in August. Troopers also investigated 56 traffic accidents during the month–four of those were fatal
