Illinois Congressman John Shimkus announced the USDA’s award of a $30,000 Rural Development grant to the Wabash Valley Water Commission. The funds will be used for preliminary engineering and environmental reports in the commission’s exploration of a regional water plant for most of Wabash and Edwards County. The grant will enable the newly formed commission the information needed to determine the best alternative to provide potable water to more than 11,000 residents in the service area.
