Keith McKinney’s murder trial date has been changed

The trial of a Lawrenceville man accused of attempted murder has been moved to July.  55 year-old Keith McKinney is charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery and unlawful possession of weapons by a felon after he reportedly shot a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy during a traffic stop in February of last year. A defense motion to vacate next week’s scheduled trial date was granted. McKinney’s trial is now set for July 31st, with his final pre-trial hearing scheduled for July 12th. If convicted, McKinney faces up to 80 years in prison plus an additional 20 years for the aggravated factor of using a weapon. McKinney is currently being held on two million dollars bond.
