The Bridgeport City Council met in regular monthly session Tuesday night at City Hall. They did approve both the 2024 Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) Program for city street and alley maintenence work and the Fiscal year 2024-25 City Budget. Could there be a new park in the city in the future? That topic was sent to the Parks Committee for further study and review and a recommendation for a course of action for the full council by May. Lanterman Park is in a flood plain and getting money to upgrade and make repairs there is extremely difficult and the city is now looking at a potential grant application to aqquire the former Seed School property through the Greater Wabash Regional Planning Commission. Residents will be surveyed online via Facebook to determine what type of park they would like to see developed. The council did enter into executive session for about 15 minutes to discuss personnel and emerged to approve the hiring of Randy Stevens from among the applicants for the open city employee position.
