Clyde Lewis McNeil, age 74, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, February 08, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. He was born on July 08, 1949 in Vincennes, Indiana, the son of Clyde Homer and Mary Elizabeth (Stone) McNeil. He married Janet Kay Liddle on July 26, 1970, and she survives.
Clyde was a 1967 graduate of Bridgeport Township High School. He owned and operated McNeil Machine and Welding Shop for over 40 years, and was a member of the Local #136 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union. He enjoyed attending antique tractor shows, steam engine shows, drag races, and car shows; as well as fixing equipment after hours and helping many people.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Mary Jane Earnst and Nellie Gochenour.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; two children, Johnathon McNeil and wife, Traci of Terre Haute, Indiana and Jana Johnson and husband, Kerk of Rochester, Minnesota; one sister, Annabelle Holscher and husband, Dale of Zephyrhills, Florida; one brother-in-law, Jeff Gochenour of Allendale, Illinois; and six grandchildren, Shelby McNeil, Erica Schubert and husband, Austin, Ian McNeil, Caleb Johnson, Eleas Johnson, and Janilyn Johnson.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 2:00 PM CST at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Monday, February 12, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM CST at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
