Larry Dean Richards, 84 of Bridgeport, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. He was born in West Liberty, IL to Harry and Mary (VanBlaricum) Richards.
On October 9, 1959, Larry married Beverley Jane Chapman in Robinson, IL. She preceded Larry in death on January 6, 2013.
Larry graduated from Newton High School. He was a dedicated and hard worker. After 43 years of service at CIPS, he retired as a Substation Foreman. Larry was a member of the Bridgeport Moose, the VFW of Lawrenceville, and the Lincoln Trail Off-Roaders. He thoroughly enjoyed off-road racing.
Surviving family includes: three children- John Richards of Mattoon, IL; Kelly Richards and his wife Ramona of Bridgeport, IL; and Melody Richards of Clay City, IL: two brothers- Ray Richards and his wife Kathy of Taylorville, IL and Harry Richards and his wife Monica of Decatur, IL: his girlfriend- Ann Shoulders of Bridgeport: and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren- Kali Jo Mainer and her sons, James and Derek Mainer; Jonda Lynn Sebring and her son, Dennis Lee Sebring; Nicole Richards; Nicholas Richards; and Ryan Nolan and his children.
He was preceded in death by: his parents- Harry and Mary Richards: his wife- Beverley Jane Richards: and one brother- Bill Richards.
Following Larry’s wishes, cremation will take place. There are no formal services planned at this time. Cunningham Funeral Home is assisting his family through their time of loss.
