Patricia ‘Pat’ Louise (Elder) Mitchell, age 73, of Olney, Illinois passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at her residence. She was born on June 25, 1950 in Sterling, Illinois, the daughter of Rollie Cotton and Ethel (Markingham) Elder. She married Floyd Allen Mitchell on August 31, 1971, and he preceded her in death on September 05, 2013.

Pat was a housekeeper at the Holiday Inn in Vincennes, and a personal caregiver later in life. She loved her family. Her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids were her life. Anyone who knew her felt her love and compassion for taking care of everyone. She had the strength and mindset of a gentle giant, with the love and grace of an angel. She was always encouraging everyone, especially her family. Some of her most famous sayings were, “We don’t worry about the little things” and “That’s ok”. She could put a soul at ease just by talking them through things. She enjoyed people watching, feeding the birds and squirrels, as well as going to ballgames and to the beach.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; three brothers, Butch Elder, Bob Elder, and Bill Elder; and one sister, Sandy Pitts.

Survivors include four children, Kenny (Carrie Diamond) Erdmier of Huffman, Texas, Kevin (Veronica) Mitchell of Humble, Texas, Mindy (Kerry Fehrenbacher) Laslie of Ingraham, Illinois, and Marty (Brandi) Mitchell of Olney, Illinois; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
