The Lawrence County Board met in regular monthly session Wednesday at the courthouse in Lawrenceville. They approved a petition for county aid to assist in bridge construction projects in Bond, Denison and Lukin Townships. Also approved was an engineering services agreement with Charleston Engineering for around $55,000 for a project on the Akin Seed Road. Cameron McClure was approved for a 3 year term as an England Pond Drainage District commissioner and the board voted to continue it’s recognition of Discover Downstate Illinois as a certified tourism bureau for the county and region. County board meeting dates will remain the same in 2024 on the third Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m. at the courthouse.
