The Red Hill Basketball Salukis have their first win of the 2023-24 season. They got off to a solid start and were able to make some key plays and shots down the stretch to beat the Grayville Bison 56-56 Tuesday night at Red Hill Jr/Sr High School in Bridgeport. The Salukis led 19-11 after one quarter, but the visitors closed the gap to two 32-30 at the half. The game remained tight in the third with the Salukis leading 44-43 heading into the final quarter. They did fall behind in the final stanza but kept their composure and executed on offense and defense in the final minutes to take back the lead and notch the win. The Salukis were led by Hayden Arbuckle with 19 points and Ozzy Ash with 18. The 2-3 Bison were paced by Ty’Zae Rowland with 18 points and Zach Leavens with 14. With the win, the Salukis improve to 1-4. The Saluki JV also won 57-14 to go to 2-0. They were led by Layton Moore with 16 points and Elijah Stitt with 14. The Salukis will head to Lawrenceville Friday and face the Indians in a Lawrence County basketball battle.
