A Lawrence County man is in custody on multiple charges after his arrest Monday at a Brookhaven Road residence in Allison Township. Reports indicate that 63 year old Michael Newell of Lawrenceville was taken into custody after an apparent domestic battery incident at that location. An investigation into the matter lead to the search of the residence that uncovered approximately 12 pounds of marijuana, a number of controlled substances and two firearms. Newell has been preliminarily charged with Domestic Battery, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, Unlawful Delivery of Cannabis, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon. Newell at the time he was arrested was on federal probation. He was booked into the Lawrence County Jail and was being held pending a detention hearing in the Lawrence County Jail.
