Tom Emery, a writer and lecturer from Carlinville Illinois is scheduled to be the next featured speaker at the October meeting of the Lawrence County Historical Society. That meeting will be Monday October 23rd at 7 p.m. at the History Center in Downtown Lawrenceville. His presentation is entitled “Notable Women of Illinois History.” Emery will discuss the lives and accomplishments of some of the most influential women in the states history ranging from Jane Addams to Mary Todd Lincoln to Gwendolynn Brooks. Emery is an award winning writer of various works including newspaper articles and books. His most recent work was released in 2021 covering Abraham Lincoln and the heritage of Illinois State University. The meeting is free and open to the public.
