It was a Lawrence County high school girls volleyball battle at Lawrenceville High School Monday night for a good cause as the Lady Indians hosted the Red Hill Lady Salukis in the “Volley For a Cure to Cancer” night. All the proceeds from the three matches played along with other activities held such as a silent and game ball auction will go to the local fight against cancer. The hosts won all three matches played-25-9, 25-13 in frosh-soph action, 25-13, 25-10 in JV play and 25-11, 25-19 in the Varsity game. The Lady Indians are now idle until closing up the regular season Thursday at Marshall while the Lady Salukis continue a busy week at home Tuesday night against Mt. Carmel. Freshman play will begin at 5:15 p.m. with JV and Varsity action to follow at Red Hill Jr/Sr High School Gymnasium in Bridgeport.
