Virgil L. ‘Scotty’ Moyes, age 82, of St. Francisville, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, October 04, 2023 at his residence. He was born on January 27, 1941 in St. Francisville, Illinois, the son of Harvey Moyes and Nina Belle (Wise) Montgomery.
Scotty served his country in the United States Army. He worked for Chrysler, as a welder. In 1982, he moved back to Lawrence County, and worked for Roadmaster, Johnson Controls, and Champ. He was the owner of Virgil’s Wiggle Worms. His memberships included the American Legion and VFW.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Sandra Kay Moyes.
Survivors include his three children, Bobby Moyes of St. Francisville, Illinois, Sandra Grove and husband, Jeff of Lawrenceville, Illinois, and Frank Moyes and wife, Amy of Lawrenceville, Illinois; two sisters, Ellysa Meyerholz and husband, Ronald of Cookeville, Tennessee and Nina Ray Baetke and husband, Dale of Davenport, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren, with the anticipated arrival of another one.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, October 09, 2023 at 1:00 PM CDT at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Monday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM CDT at the funeral home. Burial will be in the May Chapel Cemetery, with military rites. Memorial donations may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice.
