DRIVERS LICENSE FACILITIES

The Illinois Secretary of States Office announced over the weekend that starting September 1st. drivers in some areas of the state will have to make an appointment for license renewals. Beginning on that date, 44 drivers license facilities in medium to large size cities will require appointments for services such as renewals, license and ID updates and taking a driving test. Vehicle services such as title registrations will still be done on a walk-in basis. According to a released list of facilities statewide that will be appointment only, the local Lawrence County facility located at 1305 State Street in Lawrenceville will remain walk-in. There will however be new extended hours starting September 1st. The office will be open Tuesdays from 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. They will be closed on Sundays and Mondays.
