The Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Executive Committee met Thursday and voted to amend the rule that changes the way schools are classified in four class sports in the state. They moved to amend the original proposal that classified four class sports using fixed enrollment figures. Instead, the committee opted to use and maintain a percentage based system with an adjusted ratio. Beginning with the next reclassification cycle, Class 4A in Indiana will include the largest 20% of schools, Class 3A the next 25%, Class 2A the next 25% and Class A the smallest 30% of schools. The IHSAA has since 1997-98 required equally distributing schools at 25% among the four classes. The next two year classification cycle begins with the 2024-25 school year.
