Dolly A. Propes, 69, of Olney, Illinois, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Dolly was born on May 7, 1954 in Salem, Missouri, the daughter of Irvin and Goldie Ray (Woods) Chitwood. She married Don Edward “Ed” Propes on June 12, 1970 in Olney, and he survives.
Dolly worked at RMH for 30+ years as an ICU Nurse. Once retired, she worked alongside her husband, Ed, at D & E Books and More. Dolly enjoyed reading and working on the computer. She took pleasure in tending to her houseplants. Dolly especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She rarely missed a sporting activity if her grandchildren were playing. Dolly will be missed by all those that knew her.
Dolly is survived by her husband, Don Edward Propes of Olney; son, Don William Propes and wife Tammy of Flora; son, Phillip Propes of Olney; grandchildren, Chelsea Propes, Eric Szudy, Kodi Propes, and Beau Propes; sisters, Sandy (Joe) Smith and Kathy Foshee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Eugene, Thurman, and Daniel Chitwood; sisters, Glenna Christy, Barbara Earnst and Sharon Earnst.
A funeral will be held for Dolly at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation beginning one hour before service time at the funeral home.
