Robert D. (Doug) Croslow, 56, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack at his home in Clarksville, Tennessee. Doug was born March 20, 1967 in Lawrenceville, Illinois to Jerry and Phyllis (Paddick) Croslow.
Doug grew up in Salem, Illinois and was a 1985 graduate of Salem Community High School, having kept in touch with many childhood friends. He attended Kaskaskia College and received a BA in Philosophy from St. Louis University. Upon completing his degree, Doug moved to Osaka, Japan, where he taught English at ECC Foreign Language Institute for several years. Doug enjoyed learning the language and customs of Japan and seeing the sights. He made friends with many fellow teachers from the States and other countries, and maintained contact with most of them. He spent many years in the states working in customer service.
Doug had a love for dogs and animals in general, as well as plants, the outdoors and being on the Paddick family farm. He enjoyed reading about the history and airplanes of WWII, always loved M*A*S*H, NCIS and Star Wars. He loved the Kansas City Chiefs and wore his Mahomes jersey whenever they would play. He enjoyed baseball his entire life from playing Little League as a child to keeping up with the St. Louis Cardinals.
Doug is survived by his parents of Bridgeport Illinois; sister, Lyn (Michael) Harris, Woodlawn Tennessee; nephews, Will (Janna) Harris, Clarksville Tennessee and Sam (Jenna) Harris, South Haven Mississippi; great nieces, Peyton and Paisley Harris, Clarksville; and his best friend/brother, Josh Schulte and partner, Jenna Rhodes, Bradenton Florida. He is also survived by his loyal furry companions, Audrey and Rosie. He will be missed by many cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wilvin and Lovel Paddick, John L. Croslow, and Marguerite Croslow Kerns; a special step-grandfather, Russell Kerns; and a close and dear friend, Leeanna Quertermous.
Graveside service will be conducted at 11am CDT on Monday, June 19, 2023 at the Waggoner Cemetery in Chauncey, Illinois. Lunch will follow at Chauncey Crossroads (the Ruritan) in Chauncey, where friends and family may gather to remember him. In lieu of flowers, honor Doug with a gift to Christian County Kentucky Animal Shelter. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
