The National Weather Service along with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has issued an Air Quality Alert for the entire WAKO listening area across southeastern Illinois and southwestern Indiana. The alert encourages Illinois and other area residents to use caution when outdoors especially during the daylight hours as the air quality will be in the “Orange” category. That category means that as a result of anticipated ground level ozone levels rising and mixing with hot weather temperatures and sunlight, conditions outdoors pose a potential health problem to individuals with respiratory or pulmonary disorders, as well as active children and adults.
