On Tuesday, May 23, 2023, Rita Lou Middagh passed away at the age of 81 in Deaconess Gateway Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Vincennes, IN on August 24, 1941, to Carl W. Fye and his wife Mary Kathleen (Litherland) Fye.
Rita married Lawrence E. “Larry” Middagh. They built a wonderful legacy for their three children and families to continue and build upon. Larry preceded her in death on January 1, 2014.
Her family will remember her as a loving homemaker, a very attentive and involved grandma, exuberant celebrant of the holidays at the family home, and a very good cook. Rita was known for her delicious noodles…a talent hopefully passed on for generations.
Not only was Rita a homemaker, she also helped Larry at their turkey barns for many years and in many ways.
Those left to pass on Rita’s legacy are: her three children- Gena Hedrick of Lawrenceville, Jan Loeb and her late husband Edward Norman Loeb, and Jesse R. Middagh II and his wife Tina of Plainfield; two sisters- Glenna Engel and husband Allan and Carlene Lucas and husband Lowell; her ten grandchildren she was “Granny” to- Austin Hedrick and Kali, Travis Hedrick and wife Stephanie, Lee Tyler McKinney and husband Chris, Betsy Loeb, Benjamin Loeb, Maxwell Loeb and wife Lauren, Harrison Loeb, Cameron Middagh, Kyle Middagh, and Danielle Middagh; six beloved great-grandchildren- Oliver and Owen Hedrick, Hudson and Henry Hedrick, Kit McKinney, and Edison Nora Loeb.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Kathleen Fye, and son-in-law, Edward Norman Loeb.
Services for Rita Lou Middagh will be private. Cunningham-Young Funeral Home of Lawrenceville is assisting the family through their time of loss.
