The Lawrence County Board met in regular monthly session Wednesday afternoon at the courthouse in downtown Lawrenceville. They approved upon recommendation of the Building and Grounds committee a proposal to upgrade the antiquated telephone system at the courthouse. The new system will have enhanced features for officeholders and their employees and create easier communications between the public and county offices. The system is anticipated to take around 90 days to install at a cost of $10,270 to be paid for through the Building and Grounds budget. The board also approved the low bids for both the county and township motor fuel tax maintenence. Also approved were two Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) engineering service agreements with Charleston Engineering for bridge construction in Bond and Lukin townships. The board also moved for passage of two resolutions to match local and federal funding for bridge work in Christy and Petty townships.
