The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has announced a major road repair project will begin next week in neighboring Richland County. An approximately 12 mile resurfacing project on US 50 will begin on Monday April 3rd. It will stretch from 1.5 miles east of the Clay/Richland County line to 1/2 mile west of the St Marie Road just outside of Olney. It will include work on the reconstruction of the US 50-Illinois Route 130 intersection and also the reconstruction of the US 50 entrance to the Walmart distribution center. One lane of traffic will be maintained on US 50 in each direction during the project with Flaggers to help maintain traffic control. Motorist traveling in the area should expect delays and allow for extra time. The project is expected to be completed by November 30th.
