Prosecutors in Missouri have announced that they are dropping charges against convicted murderer and former Lawrence County resident Ray Tate. After fatally shooting Wayne County Sheriffs Deputy Sean Riley back on December 29th of 2021, Tate fled west to St Peters Missouri where he shot a man during a carjacking and committed robbery and kidnapping before fleeing back into Illinois. The St Charles County Missouri Prosecutors Office earlier this week indicated they were not pursuing the offenses lodged against Tate in their jurisdiction. The decision was made after considering the fact that Tate is already serving a life sentence without parole here in Illinois and also after consulting with victims in the case. Tate is still facing multiple charges in Clinton County Illinois.
