Lauren Lee (Finley) Shaffer, age 41, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 07, 2022 in Lawrence County, Illinois. She was born on April 10, 1981 in Vincennes, Indiana, the daughter of John Finley, Jr. and Vickie (Hart) Finley. She married Tyler Shaffer on April 05, 2021, and he survives.

Lauren was a 1999 graduate of Red Hill High School, and earned a Bachelor and Master Degree in Social Work. She worked at Toyota Boshoku. She enjoyed shopping, camping, fishing, side by side rides, spending time with her children and attending their sporting events. She attended the Pinkstaff United Methodist Church. She loved helping people, anyway she could, hence her field of study in college. She was the type of person who would give someone her last dollar or the shoes off her feet if they needed them. She was always the life of the party and had a smile for everyone she met. She never knew a stranger and could talk to anyone she met for hours. She loved big, especially her two children, they were her whole world. Lauren had a core group of friends from the time she was in elementary school who she loved dearly and who loved her dearly. She was always there with a smile and a hug for everyone she knew or met. Daily her and her husband would tell each other ‘You are the love of my life’.

Preceding her in death were her paternal grandparents, John, Sr. and Florence Finley; maternal grandparents, Forrest and Vera Hart; and one brother in infancy.

Survivors include her two children, Avery and Emery Zehner; husband, Tyler and his children, Hayden and Korbin; parents, John and Vickie of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one sister, Alyse Grostefon and husband, Kevin and their children, Hunter and Paige of Vincennes, Indiana; in-laws, Lloyd and Terry Shaffer of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one sister-in-law, Tammy Dohoney and her children, Kenlee and Rylee of Lawrenceville, Illinois; as well as several aunt, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 12:00 PM CST at the Pinkstaff United Methodist Church. Visitation will be on Monday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM CST at the church. A private burial will be conducted. Memorial contributions may be made to her children’s college fund, with checks being payable to Avery and Emery Zehner.
