LADY INDIANS WIN FIRST IN COUNTY BATTLE

The Lawrenceville Lady Basketball Indians snapped a five game season opening losing streak Thursday night. They rallied in the last part of the fourth quarter of a tight game to beat the Red Hill Lady Salukis 48-37 in a county battle in Bridgeport. The Lady Indians led 11-7 after one quarter, 20-18 at the half and were tied at 29 after three quarters before spurting past the hosts in the final moments to pick up their first win to improve to 1-5. It was also the first win for new head coach Karlie Dreiman. Katie Cook had 16 points and Kourtney Sholders added 11 for the Lady Indians. The loss extended the Lady Saluki losing skid to 7 games at 1-8. Grace Griesemer had 16 and Tess Heath 14 for the Lady Salukis. The Lady Indians also won a low scoring JV game 16-13. Both teams are home next week-the Lady Indians play their home opener Monday against Mt Carmel while the Lady Salukis host Casey-Westfield on Thursday.
