Marilyn Cavender, age 83, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away at her home on Friday, July 22, 2022. The daughter of Guy A. and Edna G. (Lafferty) Patton, born October 01, 1938 in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She married Denny Cavender on September 29, 1957, and together they welcomed three children. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2014.
Marilyn was a Lawrenceville High School graduate, class of 1956. She also earned a degree from Lockyear Business College in Evansville, Indiana. She recently retired from Home Sweet Home Real Estate, where she was a licensed broker. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, shopping, spending time with her grandsons and family; as well as traveling and the Florida beaches.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Peggy Cavender; and one brother, Larry Patton.
Survivors include one son, Steve Cavender and wife, Mary; one daughter, Sherry Pierson and husband, Marshall Pierson; two grandsons, Wyatt Stallard and Zac Cavender and wife, Tempa all of Lawrenceville, Illinois.
Marilyn and Denny’s remains will be interred in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery with graveside rites on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 10:00 AM CDT. A celebration of life will be on Saturday from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM CDT at the Pinkstaff United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lawrence County Cancer Resource Center & Wig Shoppe.
