TATE WITHDRAWS GUILTY PLEA

court-2

Reports out of the Menard Correctional Center in Chester indicate that former Lawrence County resident Ray Tate has filed a motion to withdraw his guilty plea to the shooting death of Wayne County deputy Sean Riley in December of 2021. The Hopkinsville Kentucky man filed the motion without an attorney and cited three reasons for the withdrawl-plea coercion, inadequate legal representation and mental incompetence and also asked that his life sentence without parole be vacated.  Tate was sentenced to life by Wayne County Court Judge Michael Molt on April 22nd after the plea. He is scheduled to be in Wayne County Court on Tuesday June 28th for a hearing on his motion.
