School districts across the nation including here in Lawrence County were on the alert Friday. That after they were made aware by law enforcement about a circulating TikTok post regarding a nationwide school shooting and bomb threat for every school including elementaries on the date of Friday December 17 2021. The post is general and is not directed at any specific school or schools. The origins of the post are unknown. Both Lawrence Unit 20 Superintendent Doug Daugherty and Red Hill Unit 10 Superintendent Jakie Walker issued written statements on their district websites informing parents of the situation and indicating no indications of any known and credible threats within both school systems. Both say that districts will have an increased police presence and will be vigilant for anything threatening the safety of students and staff.
