The Lawrence Unit #20 Board of Education met Thursday before a large crowd in the Parkview Junior High cafeteria and unveiled it’s preliminary School Reopening Plan for the upcoming new 2021-22 school term. The initial plan does not require students and staff to wear masks in schools but does recommend they do. Masks will have to be worn on school buses. Unit 20 officials will meet with the Lawrence County Health Department next week to discuss that aspect of the plan and other state guidelines and protocols to be implemented. The plan is still in the formative stages and will be reviewed again over the next couple of weeks before being formally adopted at a special session according to Superintendent Doug Daugherty.
