It is county fair season in southeastern Illinois and one of the first to get underway is the 150th Jasper County Fair in Newton. It began it’s run Sunday and will continue through this Saturday, June 26th. Among the highlights is harness racing Monday along with the Queen, Junior Miss and Little Miss Pageant. Tractor pulls are scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday with the 4-H Auction and drag racing Thursday and demolition derby and fireworks Saturday evening. A farm machinery show is set for Friday and carnival rides will be open from Tuesday through Saturday. The 2021 Lawrence County Junior Fair will return this summer. The dates are July 24th through 30th at the fairgrounds located on US 50 between Bridgeport and Sumner.
