Roger L. Sechrest, age 66, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. He was born on March 08, 1955 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the son of Merton C., Sr. and Flora M. (Thompson) Sechrest. He married Charlotte Eagleson on April 16, 1977, and she survives.
Roger retired from the Robinson Correctional Center, where he worked as a food supervisor. He served his country in the United States Army, and was active in the National Guard for 23 years. His memberships included the VFW Auxiliary, Rolling Thunder, and he donated his time with the Honor Guard. His hobbies included camping, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, dad, and grandfather.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Patty Stoltz.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; one son, David Sechrest and significant other, Barbara Blann of Arlington, Virginia; three brothers, M. Calvin Sechrest, Jr. and wife, Wanda of Lawrenceville, Illinois, Mike Sechrest and wife, Marsha of Lawrenceville, Illinois, and John Sechrest and wife, Jane of Harrisburg, Illinois; one sister, Barbara ‘Bobbie’ Eckiss of Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother-in-law, Gary Stoltz of Franklin, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Brianna Sechrest of Manchester, Connecticut; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 11:00 AM CST at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois, and may be viewed with the following link: https://www.facebook.com/emmonsmaceysteffey. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM CST at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery with military rites.
