The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,825 new and confirmed cases of coronavirus across the state Wednesday with 53 new deaths. The latest Lawrence County Health Department figures show 3 new cases in the county Wednesday bringing the total positives to 2,306 with 27 active. There are no hospitalizations and 2,249 people have recovered with deaths remaining stable at 30. Overall since the pandemic began, there have been 1,152,995 cases of the disease statewide with 19,739 deaths. A total of over 1.4 million vaccinations have now occured in Illinois with over 62,000 doses administered Wednesday. With the federal vaccine supply increasing, the IDPH is making plans to expand Phase 1-B eligibility on Thursday, February 25th to people who have comorbidities and underlying conditions as defined by the Center For Disease Control. The IDPH will also prioritize individuals with disabilities.
