The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 7,910 new and probable cases of coronavirus across the state Tuesday with 145 more deaths. Overall since the pandemic began there have been 804,174 cases and 13,487 deaths in Illinois. The latest Lawrence County Health Department numbers indicate there have been 1,333 positive cases with 98 active. 7 people remain hospitalized while 1,220 have recovered. Another COVID-19 related death has occurred bringing the death toll in the county to 15. The Indiana State Department of Health reports that 38 new cases were reported in Knox County Tuesday bringing the total now to 2,300. There were also two more deaths bringing the total now to 29. The state of Illinois is expected to recieve it’s first shipment of COVID-19 vaccine next week with 109,000 doses of the Pfizer product to arrive. They will first go to healthcare workers and then to long term care facilities. The IDPH says the process of getting the entire state population vaccinated will be lengthy. Each county across the state including Lawrence will formulate their own plans for distribution of the vaccine and getting citizens vaccinated.
