COVID-19 SPREAD CONTINUES ACROSS ILLINOIS

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there were 9,757 new confirmed or probable cases of coronavirus across the state Wednesday with 238 more deaths. That death total is the highest in a 24 hour period since the pandemic began. There have now been a total of 748,603 cases of the virus and 12,639 deaths overall statewide. The Lawrence County Health Department is indicating there have now been 1,185 positive cases in the county with 84 of those active. 4 people are currently hospitalized  and 1088 people have recovered form the disease. There have been 13 COVID-19 related deaths. Governor J.B. Pritzger did announce this week that the state of Illinois should recieve its first shipment of COVID-19 vaccine later this month. About 109,000 doses are expected and the governor says that they will first go to healthcare workers and then to long term care facility staff and residents.
