Tragedy in Knox County Indiana this past weekend as a Vincennes man was killed after being hit by a Sheriff’s Department vehicle Saturday night. Indiana State Police report they were called to the scene of the incident about 9:20 p.m. Eastern Time on U.S. 41 south of Hess Road. The deputy was responding to an accident with his emergency lights on traveling north on 41 south of Vincennes when a male wearing dark clothing walked from the median into the path of the vehicle and was hit. The man was later identified as 68 Kenneth McGiffen and pronounced dead at the scene. McGiffen had apparently been involved in the accident and had left the scene about 1/4 mile away when he was struck. Investigation is continuing.
