The Lawrence County Board has approved an update to it’s liquor ordinance amending the cap on available licenses. The board moved Wednesday to allow 20 total licenses to be available up from 12 previously. The approval is effective immediately and does not affect municipalities, only unincorporated areas of the county. The action was taken upon recommendation of the county liquor commission and after hearing interest from the public in the additional licenses. Also during the meeting, the board approved the reappointment of Eric Seitzinger to a 3 year term on the Russell-Allison Water Authority and gave preliminary approval to the fiscal year 2021 budget. The move was made after a public hearing and the final formal approval of the spending plan will come in November.
