The Lawrence County Board met in regular session Wednesday and recieved a COVID-19 update from Health Department Administrator Amy Marley. Marley says that the county remains at an orange warning level from the state for spread of the disease and county residents are urged to help reduce and mitigate the virus by wearing a face mask, social distancing, washing hands frequently and getting tested if symptomatic. The board did approve upon recommendation of its Building and Grounds committee a LED lighting replacement project with Ameren starting with the 2nd floor of the courthouse and eventually moving through the entire building in a 2 to 3 year period. Also approved was the appointment of Sean Nettleton to a 3 year term with the Russell-Allison- Ambraw Levee District replacing longtime commissioner Louie Vennard who had served since 1981. David Ivers was reappointed to Raccoon Creek Drainage District and Paul Halter to the Allison Mutual Drainage District-both for 3 year terms.
