A Mt. Carmel woman was killed and a Bridgeport man was injured in a two-vehicle accident in Wabash County Tuesday afternoon. 32 year-old Derek R. Wells was northbound in a 2018 Peterbilt garbage truck on County Road 850 East when he failed to stop at the intersection with Illinois Route 15. The garbage truck hit the driver’s side of 66 year-old Brenda S. Morehead’s 2011 Ford F-150 which was crossing westbound on Route 15. Morehead was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Wells was airlifted to a regional hospital for emergency treatment. There were no passengers in either vehicle. Wells has been cited for disobeying a stop sign, as well as driving while ill or fatigued.
