Indiana State Police investigators are looking into a standoff-related death at the Days Inn at U-S 41 and State Road 154 in Sullivan. Officials were called to the Days Inn after reports about an unruly guest at 1:24 p.m. of a female guest who was refusing to leave.  Officials claim she locked herself in her room; authorities eventually entered the room, where they claim she brandished a firearm. Officers called for additional manpower including the ISP Emergency Response Team. They also received a warrant for felony intimidation from a judge. Police then evacuated the employees and other guests from the building. Then just after 5:40 p.m., ISP reentered the room and exchanged fire. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.  The victim’s name has not been released, pending notification of family members.
