Jordan Zimmermann scattered seven hits over six innings to lead the Detroit Tigers to a 2-1 win over the Chicago Cubs in interleague action Tuesday night at Comerica Park. Zimmermann had the Cubs shut out until the top of the sixth inning when Anthony Rizzo homered for the only Cub tally on the night. Victor Martinez had three hits to lead the Tiger attack including what turned out to be the game winning single in a two run bottom of the first. Kyle Hendricks took the loss for the Cubs-their third in a row. The Cubs have scored only one run in each of their last five games and managed to win two of them. The Cubs did look to boost their offense by trading for Daniel Murphy from the Washington Nationals. He is expected to be in the lineup for the series closer Wednesday when Jon Lester (13-5) goes for the Cubs against Francisco Liriano (3-8) for the Tigers. The game can be heard on Lite 103 WAKO beginning with the pregame show at 5:35 Central Time 6:35 Eastern.
