The Lawrence County Board met in regular session Wednesday afternoon. The County Board received the 2018 inspection report for the Lawrence County Jail. The report suggested that there be two people on staff 24 hours a day at the jail. It also suggested that more shakedowns were needed to see if inmates have any weapons or contraband on their person. Board Chairman Bill Gray said that there was only one person on staff at the Lawrence County Jail at times. Gray also said that the county just did not have the income to staff the jail with two people for 24 hours a day right now.

The board also approved engineering agreements for the construction of three bridges; two in Petty Township and one near Pulleyville in St. Francisville.
