Wanted Sex Offender Arrested in Sullivan County

A Sullivan County man wanted in two states was arrested Sunday night by Sullivan County Sheriff’s deputies. Sullivan County authorities were notified that 44 year-old William L. Harris was crossing the bridge into Sullivan County from Hutsonville, Illinois. The crossing was taking place after Harris had allegedly narrowly escaped capture in Crawford County. Harris’ car was seen going northbound on State Road 63, and then eastbound on State Road 48. Harris was finally stopped at around 8:30 pm eastern on State Road 48 west of Shelburn. Harris was charged with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender in Sullivan County. He was also charged with Aggravated Driving Under the Influence in Crawford County. Harris was taken to the Sullivan County Jail.
