The Lawrenceville Lady Indians lost to Newton in the consolation bracket semifinals of the Little Illini Conference girls basketball tournament Wednesday night 55-29. They fell behind the Lady Eagles after one quarter 15-6 and never really recovered. Newton led 25-17 at the half and extended the lead to 41-24 after three quarters enroute to the win. The Lady Indians were led in scoring by Jayley Akers with 11 points. She was the only one in double figures in the loss. The squad is now 9-13 and have lost two in a row. Their next action comes Monday when they travel to Olney. Newton will play Casey Thursday afternoon for the consolation championship at Casey.
