County Council members win their primary and move on to the fall.

 

 

 

All three Democrat Incumbent County Council At Large members will stay on the ballot for the fall election as they handily defeated one challenger.  Tim Crowley had the most votes finishing with 30.1%.  Brian Downen had 26.6% and Michael Thompson with 26.1%.   Challenger Tom Peters Finished with 16.3%.

 Knox County Democratic Party Chairwoman Sandy Stewart said last night the focus now will be getting the party’s slate of candidates elected this fall.

Over 11-thousand 300 people voted in Tuesday’s primary in Knox County or approximately 42-percent of the registered voters. A lot of that can be attributed to interest in this year’s Presidential Elections.

 The other races, Donald Trump took 60% of the Knox County vote for President over Ted Cruz.

The Democrat side was much tighter.  Hillary Clinton had 49.4% just behind Bernie Sanders 50.46%.

In the GOP Senate, race Todd Young had 65% of the vote in Knox County.

For the 8th District Congressional Race Larry Bucshon the incumbent finished with almost 64% over Richard Moss for the Republicans.  For the Democrats it was Ron Drake winning in Knox County 52 to 48% over David Orentlicher.

In the GOP State Rep District 64 Thomas Washburne 66 to 33 percent over challenger Ann Ennis.
