The Vincennes School Board has hired a Terre Haute firm to serve as the construction manager on the elementary school project. After interviewing several companies Superintendent Greg Parsley recommended to the board they hire Garmong Construction Services. Parsley says Garmong came highly recommended having worked on several school building projects. The company has also done projects for Good Samaritan Hospital. Garmong will be partnered with Myzak & Palmer on the School Remodeling project. Plans call to completely remodel and update the elementary schools to bring them up to modern standards. The work is expected to take place over the next few years.

The Vincennes School Board last night approved a rate increase for the school corporation’s after school day care program. Effective February1st the rate will go from 15 to 20 dollars per week. The rate will go up 25-dollars starting next fall. Superintendent Greg Parsley says the rate increase is to offset salary to staff the program. He added they’ve also seen an increase in the number of students attending the after school program at each of tthe elementary schools. According to Parsley, some of that is due to daycare providers in the Vincennes area closing as more parents are taking advantage of the service provided by the V-C-S-C.
