The first day of the two day Watermelon Festival starts today in downtown Vincennes. Starting at 5 at Patrick Henry Square the vendors and booths will be open. There’ll be games and live music this evening. There’ll be a GLOW run at dusk and after that the movie “Up” will be shown.
The Illiana Watermelon Association will hold their seed spitting and watermelon eating contests on Saturday. There’s kids games, inflatables and a BBQ contest going on Saturday. The Vincennes Animal Shelter has a pet contest. The Miss Watermelon Pageant is Saturday evening starting at 6-pm.
You’ll smell lots of summer cooking downtown as the Great American Grill Out will take place with meat grilling going on all day.
