The Watermelon Festival put on each year downtown at Patrick Henry Square by the Knox County Chamber of Commerce is expanding to two days this year.

Chamber President Marc McNeece told the Vincennes Sun Commercial the change will allow more opportunities for people to attend and more chances for vendors to sell their wares and participate.

The festival will start on Friday July 31st at 5 at Patrick Henry Square with live music at 7.  Added this year is a 5k Glow Run.  There’ll also be a movie on Friday night.

Saturday, August 1st the Great American Grill Off will get underway and the baby and toddler and watermelon queen contests will still be a big part of the weekend. There’s also the traditional watermelon eating and seed spitting contests.  An it goes without saying, lots of watermelon to sample.
