The local CAFA group is asking for the relocation of an upcoming public hearing.

Citizens Against Forced Annexation is asking the Vincennes City Council and Mayor’s office to relocate the May 18th public hearing to a larger venue.

The public hearing is scheduled to hear comments from the public either for or against the proposed annexation of seven different areas on the border of the Vincennes city limits.
More than 250 people attended a public forum hosted by CAFA last week at South Knox High School.
CAFA member Tina Kunkler-Laake says there is a great concern that city hall will not be able to hold all those who plan to attend the May 18th hearing.
At last week’s forum, city attorney David Roellgen stated that they can not switch the venue of the public hearing because notice was already sent to all land owners in the proposed areas for annexation.
Kunkler-Laake says she has contacted the Indiana Public Access Counselor’s office and was told that the hearing could be moved to a larger venue, as long as 48-hour notice is posted on the door of the original meeting place.
Another option would be the use of a public address system and a nearby location for crowd overflow.
