Thomas K. Kirkwood

Thomas K. Kirkwood, age 88, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Sunday, March 01, 2020 at the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was born on October 14, 1931 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the son of Winton and Gertrude (Thais) Kirkwood. He married Nancy Seitzinger in June of 1951 and she preceded him in death in December of 2009.

Tom attended the Eastern Illinois University. He worked for Texaco Refinery and was an insurance agent for the Western and Southern Insurance Company for many years. After his retirement, he worked for Good Samaritan Hospital as a valet driver. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, where he served on several committees. He was also a past member of the Elks and the American Legion. He coached Little League Baseball in his earlier years, was an avid Notre Dame, Green Bay Packers, and New York Yankees fan; as well as a history buff. He served his country in the United States Army. His family will always remember him being a loving husband and father.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Nancy; and son, Steve Kirkwood.

Survivors include two children, Karen Ruston and husband, Don of Salem, Illinois and Bob Kirkwood of Bridgeport, Illinois; one brother, Dr. Michael Kirkwood of Vincennes, Indiana; one grandson, Conner Kirkwood and wife, Jessica; one great-grandson, Blaize Kirkwood; and special friend to Tom and his family, Janet Ulrich.

Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, March 06, 2020 at 11:00 AM CST at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery in Lawrenceville, Illinois. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the United Methodist Village. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
