A rural Central Illinois family physician has announced he will run for the 15th District Republican nomination for Congress. Dr. Charles Ellington who practices in the Arthur and Camargo area will seek to succeed John Shimkus who has indicated he will not seek re-election. In a statement released this week Ellington who is also a licensed attorney and an assistant professor of Family and Community Medicine says his extensive experience with the healthcare system and public policy as a whole led him to run for the U.S. House of Representatives. The 15th District does include Lawrence and surrounding counties in southeastern Illinois.
